As a young boy growing up in Vermont, Tedd has always had a passion for woodworking. Tedd’s inspiration comes from his love of trees and his previous experience in the tree care industry. While attending Paul Smith’s College, Tedd decided to implement his craft and began carving his bowls out of burls from yellow birch, black cherry, cedar, and sugar maple gathered from trees in the local forests. Using only his chainsaw and chisels each bowl is sure to have its own natural character. Tedd decided to use the chainsaw instead of a lathe to enhance the natural shape of the burl and it also allowed him to keep the bark attached. Hand crafted quality is evident in the attention to detail, patience, and dedication it takes to create his bowls.
